States without

AIDS

Ann Landers' November 10 column dealt with a letter from a Yonkers reader whose husband is retiring soon. Frightened of contracting AIDS, the couple asked what states have the fewest cases and wanted Landers to answer their question rather than scolding them about hysteria. Printing a list of AIDS cases by state, Landers explained

that unless they were needle drug abusers or had been unfaithful during the past five years, the couple could live anywhere without worrying. States with no AIDS cases, a's of October, are Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and

Idaho.
